The Mental Health Literacy platform

The Mental Health Literacy platform is a space designed to empower youth workers and educators with the ability to better understand and comprehensively address the lack of mental health literacy among young people they are working with. The platform offers a clear and accessible theoretical framework that helps you explore the different levels of mental health states. Whether you’re new to the topic or already have experience, the content is written in a simple and approachable way, making it useful for all levels of understanding. In addition to the theory, each chapter includes practical sessions, engaging activities, and helpful tips — so you can take what you’ve learned and immediately apply it in your classroom, youth group, or any learning space.

About Our platform

Shift the paradigm

This platform has been developed as part of the Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnerships project in the field of youth, Mental Health Literacy. The project aims to strengthen the knowledge, understanding, and practical application of mental health literacy (MHL) among youth workers, educators, and organizations within Europe. Through this platform, youth workers are equipped with a comprehensive educational program, interactive tools, and accessible resources designed to help them engage young people aged 18–26 in meaningful conversations and learning about mental health. The platform not only supports the delivery of non-formal education but also promotes the integration of MHL into informal youth work practices, ensuring sustainability and long-term impact.

We would never tell someone with a broken leg that they should stop wallowing and get it together. We don’t consider taking medication for an ear infection something to be ashamed of. We shouldn’t treat mental health conditions any differently.

OUR

Mission

Our mission is to increase the level of understanding of mental health literacy within youth workers which will enable them to recognize and respond to mental health challenges.

OUR

Vision

Is to shift the paradigm from the already existing, often limited definitions of mental health literacy that emphasize addressing mental health disorders, and instead provide youth workers with an extended approach, focusing on prevention, recognition and management of lighter mental health conditions and states. Involvement of youth work in these early stages can ensure that supporting mechanisms are provided and youth empowered to become more mental health literate.

OUR PROFESSIONAL TEAM

Meet Our Partnership

Our consortium consists of 4 partners from Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkiye and Germany, who came united and with a belief that the youth work sector has much more to offer in terms of mental health education.
